Well, I'm not saying we don't have a ton of improvements to make, but the documentation for this is right in the MT manual under configuration settings:

I was more interested in poiting to unofficial documentation (independent weblogs have neatly filled in a lot of gaps in under-documented software) and asking how to do it on similar software.

(That said, now that you mention it, I'm glad I opened up comments on this one, since it means I--if unintentionally--abided by my policy of opening comments on links to stuff that doesn't have comments enabled.)
